Mathematical Formula: SGPA to CGPA
CGPA = Σ(SGPAi × Ci) ÷ Σ(Ci)
Where SGPAi is the SGPA achieved in semester i, and Ci is the total number of credits earned in semester i.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you calculate CGPA from SGPA of multiple semesters?
CGPA is calculated by taking the sum of the product of each semester’s SGPA and its total semester credits, divided by the total sum of completed credits across all semesters: CGPA = Σ(SGPA × Semester Credits) / Σ(Total Credits). If all semesters have equal credits, CGPA equals the simple arithmetic average of the SGPAs.
Do I have to look up and enter my semester credits manually?
No! Simply select your University and Course from the dropdown at the top of the calculator. The system automatically loads your curriculum’s exact semester credit totals for each semester directly from official syllabus records.
How does the calculator handle semesters with backlogs or failed subjects?
If you have backlogs in a semester, enter the official SGPA awarded for that semester (or 0.00 if all subjects were failed). The full registered credits of that semester remain in the cumulative denominator, mathematically reducing your CGPA according to standard university examination rules.
Can I simply add all my SGPAs and divide by the number of semesters?
Only if every semester has the EXACT same number of total credits (e.g. 22 credits every semester). If credit totals differ (e.g. Sem 1 has 20 credits and Sem 4 has 26 credits), you MUST use the credit-weighted formula to avoid an inaccurate CGPA on your degree transcript.
Do empty semesters lower my CGPA?
No. Semesters where SGPA is left blank without entered marks are ignored in this calculator and do not dilute your actual cumulative performance.
What is the difference between SGPA and CGPA?
SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) evaluates your academic performance within a single semester. CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) measures your overall academic standing across all completed semesters until graduation.
